Drones at Home: Drone Incidents

Today the Center for the Study of the Drone published “Drone Incidents: A Survey of Legal Cases,” an in-depth study on over two dozen legal cases that have been prosecuted by authorities other than the FAA. This is the third installment in a three-part series on drone use and regulations at the local level in the U.S.
  • The study addresses 30 legal cases in six categories: Privacy, Close Encounters Involving Manned Aircraft, Shoot Downs, Drone Use, and Smuggling.
  • Local law enforcement has used a range of different laws and charges to prosecute violators, including state and local drone-specific laws.
  • As a result, we found inconsistencies in the way that similar cases have been handled and resolved
